Blog Post 2: Freedom to information...and a bottle of rum

Blog Post 1: Whoops...

Whoops, I totally dropped the ball and missed the deadline for my posting. The internet has many wonders, but one also must realize that it has to be maintained. I have let my blog sit idly for the past few weeks due to responsibilities and time constraints from my other class and it is still here waiting for me, which is a wonder. Yet, if I do not do my part and work at maintaining it, then it will continue to sit there while the rest of the class blogs live and breathe and evolve with tender loving care. The same goes for the internet- it seems this live animal that works and exists magically on its own, but it took many people to create and recreate to get it to be what it is today; and it continues to evolve. I think (and correct me if I am wrong) I have heard before that the internet is believed to not be owned by any one person, entity, etc. Yet levels of maintenance do exist in the formation of domains such as .gov, .edu, .org, etc. And to just think that it was originally created for research purposes and not commercial, it has changed the face of commercial business as we know it, not to mention education. I may not understand much of the history of the internet, what with all the NETs and TCP/IP and all, but I do understand the work and time and dedication it took to develop and how it continues to develop and grow and the users along with it. Now I just need to apply that to my blog...
